Python Developer (USC/GC Candidates only)
PROJECT: (Not a Data Science role). Need someone with strong "R" analytics development. Initially working within Python (Linux platform) with some R development experience.
Job SummaryResponsible for development, programming, coding of Information Technology solutions using R/Python to enable Florida Blue Customer Experience applications. Responsible for documentation of the system, conduct unit tests, peer code reviews and maintenance of internally developed applications, evaluation and performance testing of purchased products. Responsible for including IT Controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity, as well as availability of the application and data processed or output by the application.
Responsibilities- Development, programming, coding of IT solutions using Python and R.
- Documentation of the system; perform unit tests and peer code reviews.
- Maintenance of internally developed applications, evaluation and performance testing of purchased products.
- Inclusion of IT Controls to protect confidentiality, integrity and availability of application and data.
- Evaluation of various libraries with pros and cons to meet business/technical requirements.
- Work with REST APIs, batch file processing and scheduling of batch processes.
- Use standard desktop applications such as MS Suite and flowcharting tools such as Visio.
- Experience with unit testing, release procedures, coding design and documentation protocols as well as change management procedures.
- Demonstrated organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage tasks independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
- Ability to learn from mistakes and apply constructive feedback to improve performance.
- Must demonstrate initiative and effective independent decision‑making skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly and articulately.
- Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
- In‑depth understanding of the systems development life cycle.
- Database knowledge in SQL, DB2/Netezza or SQL Server.
- Excellent understanding of RESTful Architecture style.
- Excellent understanding of R and Python programming model and required libraries.
- Demonstrated experience working with REST APIs, processing batch files and developing scheduling of batch processes.
- Proficiency using standard desktop applications such as MS Suite and Visio.
- High critical thinking skills to evaluate alternatives and present solutions that are consistent with business objectives and strategy.
- Experience using Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodology.
- Specific tools, languages and specialty skills may vary.
- 3+ years related work experience and professional experience with technical design and coding in the IT industry.
- 3+ years of development experience with R and SQL/Stored Procedures, not a Data Science background.
- Strong analytical background with hands‑on experience using UNIX Shell Scripting.
