We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to support accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing for a large, complex organization. This role is responsible for end-to-end payroll administration, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations while providing exceptional service to employees and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process multi-state, high-volume payroll accurately and on schedule for a large employee population
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
  • Review and reconcile payroll data, including earnings, deductions, taxes, and garnishments
  • Maintain payroll records and documentation in accordance with company policies and audit requirements
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, responding to employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Partner with HR, Finance, and Benefits teams to ensure accurate employee data, new hires, terminations, and changes
  • Support payroll audits, year-end processing (W-2s), and other regulatory reporting requirements
  • Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and controls within payroll operations
Qualifications
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) required
  • 3–5 years of payroll experience within large, complex organizations
  • Experience with Retirement Plans a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Experience processing multi-state payroll and handling high-volume employee populations
  • Paycor experience preferred (not required)
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and payroll-related reporting tools
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with payroll system implementations or upgrades
  • Background supporting audits and internal controls in a complex payroll environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
