Position: DIR - BUSINESS OFFICE

Responsibilities

  • The Business Office Director is responsible for all aspects for revenue cycle management for the facility. This position also essential reports and data utilized for month-end closing. Special projects will also be required of the position.
  • Must Understand revenue cycle management, accounts receivable, billing, collections, and payor principles. Knowledge of Medicare, VA, and Managed care insurance policies and proper billing procedures including denial and appeal guidelines.
  • Proficiency with personal computers, Microsoft Excel and Word. Prefer experience in MS4 billing software.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret journals, financial reports and legal documents with a high level of attention to detail. Accuracy is required. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Certification through HFMA or AEPAM preferred.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the community. Maintains a dialog with all third party payors. Assist in establishing policies and procedures as they relate to the financial goals of the facility. Must implement and monitor business office procedures and address systematic problems quickly. Will review the work quality of department employees in order to facilitate a smooth and efficient work flow.
  • Frequently uses Computer, Copier, Facsimile, Postage meter
  • This is a fast-paced office environment that may require occasional overtime and flexibility.
  • Required to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with non-verbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phase. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Qualifications
  • Experience or knowledge in revenue cycle management, accounts receivable, billing, collections, and payor principles. Knowledge of Medicare, VA, and Managed care insurance policies and proper billing procedures including denial and appeal guidelines.
  • Proficiency with personal computers, Microsoft Excel and Word; preferably experience in MS4 billing software.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial documents with high attention to detail; strong math skills and ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Certification through HFMA or AEPAM preferred.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or stakeholders; maintain dialogue with third party payors; assist in establishing policies and procedures related to financial goals; monitor business office procedures and address issues quickly; review quality of departmental work to support efficient workflow.
