Overview

An Advanced Practice Provider IV (APP IV) is a direct patient care provider licensed in the State of Florida and/or Georgia and provides medical services to patients as defined by their scope of practice and under the supervision of a physician licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida/Georgia. Clinical area:
The provider primarily supplies care in inpatient and/or critical care, labor & delivery and/or emergency department settings; > 50% of time spent in an inpatient hospital‑based setting.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Performs or assists with procedures of higher complexity in office, inpatient unit, operating room, or emergency department. May perform first assist functions in the operating room setting. Call coverage may be required specific to departmental needs.
  • Actively participates in meetings, functions, events, and committees, and works as part of an interdisciplinary health care team.
  • Directly cares for patients with all types of neuroendovascular pathology, including acute strokes, SAH, etc., in both critical care and outpatient settings.
  • Opportunities to scrub in/first assist in neuroendovascular procedures.
  • Monitors or manages medical/invasive devices and placement of devices within scope of practice. May manage care of pre‑/post‑operative and pre‑/post‑procedure patients.
  • Conducts high‑level evaluation and triage specific to the specialty/subspecialty, including patient histories, physical examinations and/or diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, differential diagnoses, ordering of ancillary studies, medical decision making, treatment, and stabilization.
  • Formulates comprehensive health management plans for patients in collaboration with physicians, pharmacists, and other medical professionals, including progress notes, narrative discharge summaries, consults, etc.; facilitates patient participation in healthcare decisions.
  • Contributes to the development, implementation, and expansion of programs and initiatives, including participation in research activities, quality improvement projects, etc.; participates in professional development opportunities and introduces innovation in practice where applicable.
  • Enters pertinent clinical information in the patient’s medical record in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with established compliance billing guidelines. Documents and closes open encounters, My Chart messages, and other EMR communications in accordance with institutional requirements.
  • Educates and counsels patients/families regarding their health care, including routine health maintenance.
  • Calls and responds to consults, handles discharge planning, and schedules procedures routinely.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Experience Requirements: 2 years in critical care, labor & delivery, or ED/OR care settings preferred.

Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required.
Masters in Nursing Practice required or Masters in Physician Assistant program required.

Certification/Licensure: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure required at time of hire or Physician Assistant (PA) licensure in State of Florida/Georgia required at time of hire.
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required at time of hire.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred at time of hire.
New graduates in orthopedics must acquire DEA within 90 days of hire.
May be required to take call coverage.
Travel up to 25%.
