Summary

The Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist assists physicians in performing minimally invasive procedures using imaging technology. Responsibilities include preparing patients and equipment, operating fluoroscopic and other imaging modalities, and ensuring patient care and safety in a fast-paced environment. The IR Technologist works with interventional radiologists and the healthcare team to support vascular and non-vascular procedures.

Required Qualifications
  • One year’s recent experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist
  • Valid ARRT, RCIS, or RCES Certification in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current ACLS certification (AHA/ARC)
  • Valid Radiologic Technologist license in compliance with state regulations
  • PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certification
  • Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position
Essential Work Functions
  • Prepare and position patients for interventional radiology procedures, ensuring comfort and safety
  • Operate imaging equipment, including fluoroscopy, CT, and ultrasound, to guide procedures
  • Assist physicians by scrubbing in for sterile procedures, passing instruments, and maintaining a sterile field
  • Monitor and document patient vital signs and procedural details
  • Administer contrast media and monitor for adverse reactions
  • Ensure proper radiation safety measures for patients, staff, and self
  • Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment, ensuring readiness for procedures
  • Manage and restock procedural supplies, including catheters, guide wires, and contrast agents
  • Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other team members to provide seamless patient care
  • Follow all infection control, safety, and regulatory protocols
  • Provide patient education before, during, and after procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support IR lab operations
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and basic PC skills
  • Physical abilities to remain stationary, move equipment, push/pull, and bend
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with a variety of personnel
  • Technical/motor skills for manipulating instruments and equipment
  • Mental ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle irregular schedules
  • Sensory capability for visual acuity and effective communication
