Overview
The Risk Management Specialist works under the license of the Hospital or Clinical Risk Manager, assisting with the coordination of risk management processes designed to meet the requirements of the Florida Administrative Code. Responsibilities include facilitating surveys by regulatory and accrediting bodies, monitoring action plans to achieve and maintain compliance with standards and regulations, conducting occurrence investigations, assisting with root cause analysis, and maintaining the occurrence reporting system and its databases.
The role coordinates with the Grievance Specialist to investigate complaints and grievances, and works closely with the Patient Safety Officer to identify and resolve occurrence patterns and trends that may impact patient safety.
- Facilitate surveys by regulatory and accrediting bodies.
- Monitor action plans to achieve and maintain compliance with standards and regulations.
- Conduct occurrence investigations.
- Assist with root cause analysis processes.

- Collaborate with the Patient Safety Officer to identify and resolve occurrence patterns and trends that may impact patient safety.
- Required
Education:
Bachelor’s degree. - Preferred Education:
Master’s degree in a related field. - Required Licensure/
Certifications:
Patient Safety and/or Risk Management professional certification within three years of hire or transfer. - Required Experience:
Three years of experience within a healthcare environment. - Preferred Experience:
Previous regulatory, risk management, or quality management experience.
- Working knowledge of MS Office and willingness to learn additional software.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with customer service skills.
