• Identify and evaluate cytological specimens (gynecological and non‑gynecological) for malignancy or other abnormalities.
• Provide negative reports for normal gynecological specimens.
• Act on the FNA team to assess on‑site adequacy of endoscopic ultrasound‑directed and radiology technique‑based fine‑needle aspiration procedures and core biopsies.
• Support ancillary techniques and related interpretations.
• Assist in training new employees or cytotechnology students.
• Perform quality control activities and gather data relevant to quality assurance, continuous improvement, or special projects.
• Partner with team members to foster an inclusive work environment and respect diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
• This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F‑1 STEM OPT extension program.

• Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology or a Bachelor's degree with completion of an accredited Cytotechnology program.
• Experience using databases, spreadsheets, and word processing software.
• Good written and oral communication skills; ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adapt to changes in work volumes and projects.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and familiar with cytopreparation techniques, specimen troubleshooting, and triaging specimen handling.
• Proficiency with LIS system and adherence to workload limits while maintaining accurate documentation of slide counts and microscope maintenance.
• Knowledge of digital pathology and/or telecytology is beneficial.
• A skills assessment test will be administered at the interview; a PASS score is required to be considered.

Cytologist (CT, ASCP) or Specialist in Cytology (SCT, ASCP) certification required prior to start date. Must have a Florida Cytotechnologist License. Individuals licensed in Florida prior to 1991 with two years of college and a one‑year Cytology training program are qualified under Federal standards. Employers requiring CT certification(s) after January 1, 2004 or SCT certification after January 1, 2006 must demonstrate ongoing maintenance of certification.

$35.78 – $53.70 per hour.

Time; 80 hour pay period. Monday‑Friday rotating shifts: 7:00 am–3:30 pm, 8:00 am–4:30 pm, or 8:30 am–5:00 pm. No weekends or holidays.
