Payment Services Specialist
The Payment Services Specialist is responsible for managing and executing all aspects of check issuance and check lockbox payments clearing for the bank. This role involves ensuring the accurate and timely issuance of checks, processing of lockbox payments, reconciling payment data, and providing exceptional service to clients. The specialist will work closely with internal teams and external clients to ensure compliance with all banking regulations and internal policies.
Key Responsibilities and Duties- Prepare and process check payments for various internal business units. Verify accuracy and completeness of check requests and related documentation. Manage check printing and distribution processes ensuring secure handling of sensitive financial information. Maintain records of issued checks while working independently with low levels of supervision required.
- Process lockbox payments received from customers, ensuring accurate and timely deposit into the correct accounts. Review and validate payment details, matching payments to supporting documentation. Work with internal accounting teams to resolve any issues related to payment discrepancies. Ensure all lockbox transactions comply with the bank's policies, regulatory requirements, and department procedures.
- Reconciles daily check issuance and lockbox processing activities, ensuring all transactions are accounted for and discrepancies are resolved. Prepares regular reports on check issuance and lockbox processing activities for management review. Monitors outstanding check issues and take appropriate action on uncashed checks, including stop payments and reissuance when necessary.
- Serves as a point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding check payments and lockbox processing. Responds to inquiries and resolve issues related to check issuance and lockbox processing in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensures adherence to all relevant banking regulations, policies, and procedures related to check payments and lockbox processing. Participates in audits and provide necessary documentation to auditors as required. Identifies and escalates potential risks or issues related to check issuance and lockbox processing to management.
- Identifies opportunities for process improvements in check issuance and lockbox processing. Collaborates with technology and operations teams to implement new systems or enhancements that improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Conducts effective and courteous communication with peers, business partners, and management.
- Supports user acceptance testing (UAT), audit responses, and other ad hoc requests.
- Supports training of new team members.
- 2+ years of experience working in payment services as a Banking Specialist
- Experience managing and executing aspects of check issuance and check lockbox payments clearing for a financial institution.
- Ability to accurately review and timely print issuance of checks, processing of lockbox payments, reconciling payment data, etc.
- Proven ability to provide exceptional service to clients.
- High School Preferred
- No Experience Required; 2+ Years Preferred
