The opportunity

Our Government & Public Sector Financial Accounting Advisory Services (GPS FAAS) team is growing exponentially. As a Senior Manager you will play a key role in that growth, communicating creative, strategic goals across all Federal GPS sector service lines and delivering exceptional client experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Actively pursue business development activities, implementing strategies and tactical steps within and outside EY to identify opportunities.
  • Develop proposal responses, train staff, and execute engagement deliverables while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Challenge existing practices to develop solutions to complex issues and collaborate with colleagues across multiple service lines.
  • Build relationships with advisory client personnel, assess client satisfaction, and maintain contact throughout the year.
  • Manage assurance staff performance and provide coaching, performance feedback, training and reviews.
  • Use technology to learn, share knowledge and enhance service delivery.
  • Travel regularly to meet key clients, often supporting highly respected organizations.
Skills and Attributes for Success
  • Strong, productive relationships with advisory client personnel.
  • Proficient understanding of complex governmental accounting (GASB), budgetary reporting and auditing concepts.
  • Experience executing advisory/consulting work, including reporting or transformations.
  • Effective delegation and leadership of audit tasks.
  • Active communication and collaboration with assurance team members.
  • Innovation, teamwork, and an efficient work environment mindset.
  • Proficiency with EY’s service lines and encouragement of cross‑functional contributions.
To qualify for the role you must have
  • U.S. CPA license in your work state.
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business, with 10+ years of post‑college experience in financial audit and advisory for SLED clients.
  • In‑depth knowledge of US Governmental GAAP, GASB standards, and OMB Uniform Guidance (Subpart

    F).
  • Expertise in preparing and auditing Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports, Annual Financial Statements and Single Audit Reports for SLED entities.
  • Hands‑on experience with business development, deal governance and proposal submission in the SLED space.
  • Excellent project management, communication, negotiation and teamwork skills.
  • Dedication to integrity and professional excellence.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance or higher.
  • Travel flexibility: up to 30% for federal practice, up to 80% for SLED practice.
Ideally you’ll also have
  • CGFM and/or CDFM certifications.

  • A comprehensive compensation and benefits package. Base salary ranges: $146,700–$335,100 nationwide; $176,000–$380,800 in NYC, Washington, CA (excluding Sacramento). Individual salaries depend on education, experience, and geography.
