AutoCAD Drafter
-Technical Job Description
The Drafter is responsible for the electrical design and documentation of control systems used in Water and Wastewater applications. This role utilizes AutoCAD LT and related CAD tools to develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and bills of materials in accordance with engineering standards, applicable codes, and customer specifications. The position supports manufacturing and ensures designs are accurate, buildable, and fully documented.
TechnicalResponsibilities
- Develop electrical control schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel documentation using AutoCAD LT (DWG format).
- Design and document motor control circuits, including starters, VFDs, overload protection, and associated control components.
- Generate and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) aligned with electrical designs and manufacturing requirements.
- Perform electrical system calculations and studies, including load calculations and component sizing.
- Translate customer application requirements into complete electrical designs that meet functional, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, sales, and project management teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet project scope.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing during panel build, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure compliance with internal standards, documentation practices, and applicable electrical codes and industry standards.
- Manage multiple active projects while responding to time-critical production priorities.
- Travel occasionally to other production facilities for technical support or coordination (less than 10 days per year).
- Strong technical aptitude and interest in electrical systems and industrial controls.
- Demonstrated experience creating electrical schematics and wiring diagrams from application requirements.
- Working knowledge of electric motor control circuits and industrial control systems.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD LT or equivalent CAD software for electrical design.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools for documentation and communication.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, customer requirements, and engineering standards.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with cross-functional teams.
