Water-Wastewater Project Manager

Overview

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Professional Engineer (PE) to serve as a Project Manager with 10+ years of experience in water/wastewater engineering to join our Jacksonville, FL office. An ideal candidate has planning, design, permitting, and construction experience as well as client relationships in the Florida municipal water/wastewater market. This position offers growth into a leadership role as the Florida Water Division expands its portfolio and services.

• Independently perform and guide multi-discipline teams on water and wastewater planning, evaluation, design, and construction projects related to collection, conveyance, distribution systems, pump stations, storage and treatment facilities, and pipeline renewal and replacement programs.
• Manage projects from inception through construction and start-up, including client coordination, team chartering, scope, schedule and budget development and management, safety, quality assurance/quality control, project profitability, and staff workload coordination.
• Provide technical execution and oversight of design projects including schematic/preliminary design, design development, final design, specifications, permitting, bid-phase services, and construction contract document production.
• Lead water/wastewater consulting tasks, including flow projections, hydraulic modeling, master planning, detailed design calculations, alternative analysis and selection, cost estimating, equipment selection, project prioritization, and CIP development.
• Mentor and develop junior staff for both technical and project management knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Contribute to business development activities, including opportunity identification, proposal development, interviews/presentations, and client relationship cultivation.
• Serve as a primary practitioner for the Florida Water Division, growing into a “go-to” GAI representative to clients, key contractors and design partners, professional organizations, and communities served.

Required:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in the municipal water/wastewater market involving master planning, hydraulic modeling, technical reports, design of conveyance systems (including pipelines in public rights-of-way), treatment process/facility design, regulatory permitting, services during construction, and/or other technical services.
• Minimum 2 years of experience serving as a Project Manager leading multi-discipline project teams, with a track record of delivering on time and on budget while meeting or exceeding client expectations.
• Excellent technical writing, verbal communication, and leadership skills working in a dynamic team environment.
• Sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet deadlines and develop new business opportunities.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, 3D BIM Revit, ArcGIS, and hydraulic modeling software such as Info Water and Sewer
  
  GEMs.

• 10+ years of engineering experience, with at least 3 years in an engineer-of-record capacity for water and/or wastewater projects.
• Experience with cross-market project delivery.
• Trenchless pipeline design, permitting, and construction experience.
• Facility and pipeline condition assessment field and data management experience.
• Experience with 3D Utility Modeling for underground pipelines and treatment plant facilities.
• Alternative project delivery experience including Design-Build, Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), and/or Design Criteria Professional methods.

• Required:
  Bachelor’s or better in Engineering or related field.
• Preferred:
  Master’s or better in Engineering or related field.
• Licenses & Certifications:
  Professional Engineer.
• Preferred:
  Project Management Professional (PMP).
