Battery Storage Field Service Engineer

Salary: 120,
Supporting the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of installed battery storage projects. Responsible for ensuring the project is readying for transition to Long Term Service Agreement (LTSA). Supports closing out the list of engineering actions and punchlist items after delivery of the project. Provides support to technicians and Service Managers, throughout the LTSA period and O&M phase. Expected to have experience in optimization of DC and AC coupled Battery Energy Storage System (ESS), System integration, and ESS controller design.

- Ensure projects are prepared for transition to Long Term Service Agreement (LTSA).
- Close out engineering actions and punchlist items after project delivery.
- Provide support to technicians and Service Managers during the LTSA period and O&M phase.
- Apply optimization experience for DC and AC coupled Battery Energy Storage Systems (ESS), system integration, and ESS controller design.
- Validate project documentation with the project engineering team.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Minimum 8 years professional experience in Electrical Engineering
- Knowledge in power systems, battery systems and controls
- Business understanding in electricity, power generation, energy
- Travel required an estimated 50%
- Validates project documentation with project engineering team.
- Reviews and familiar with design specifications, block diagrams, system interfaces, and other applicable documentation during the course of duties to facilitate high-level customer and services support.
- Provides expertise and technical interface with customer/subcontractor for troubleshooting, diagnosis, and root cause analysis of issues during operations.
- Understands interfaces of BESS, PCS, PPC/SCADA, and PMS; interprets single line diagrams and schematics; validates switching procedures.
- Familiar with project-specific requirements and customer specifications.
- Reviews and validates specifications, design, qualification and certification of BESS integration (Battery + PCS/MVPS + PMS) projects after transition to O&M, including augmentation if necessary.
- Understands system-level development of power systems, power conversion systems, and plant management/SCADA systems; familiar with industry standards for integrating battery systems with power conversion and controls systems.
- Provides support to bid/proposal teams for technical questions during the bid phase and offers feedback on operations to improve bidding.
- Applies technical policies, best engineering practices, lessons learned; submits JIRA tickets for analysis and product improvement.
- Coordinates annual performance tests and generates test reports for the customer.
- Provides engineering support emphasizing safety and customer satisfaction; develops technical service bulletins and leads RCA.
- Understands NFPA 855, UL9540, UL9540A, UL1973, UL1642, UL1741SA and/or other applicable codes and standards.
