IMEG is growing, and we are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer/Designer in our Jacksonville, FL office. The Senior Electrical Engineer/Designer will provide leadership, mentoring, and training for less experienced staff, with potential responsibilities spanning technical work, project management, marketing, or business development.
Technical/Project Management PathsThe Senior Electrical Engineer/Designer will lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for moderate to complex projects, and lead design efforts with limited senior staff support for larger, high-complexity projects. They will work with a team of engineers and consultants to provide project direction, engineering solutions, and client guidance to ensure positive outcomes. Primary responsibilities include project management, engineering analysis, design and oversight of electrical systems in buildings, budget participation, training/mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration to meet project goals and client expectations.
PrincipalResponsibilities
- Lead design efforts for electrical systems analysis using engineering software to create designs, specifications, and calculations per code requirements and IMEG standards.
- Perform site assessments and generate detailed analyses and technical reports.
- Interact with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information; build and maintain client relationships.
- Provide in-process design reviews and implement IMEG quality control processes to meet standards and client requirements.
- Train, mentor, and motivate staff.
- Provide technical assistance in field issue resolution with limited senior staff support.
- Stay current with industry trends and contribute to R&D within IMEG.
- Prioritize safety in all engineering work and identify mitigations for electrical system risks.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
- Participate in project interviews and presentations.
- Adept in technical aspects of electrical engineering; strong knowledge of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems.
- Knowledge of IES standards and reference resources (NFPA, Tech Street, MadCAD, FGI).
- Advanced proficiency with Master Specification editing and software (eSPECS); proficiency with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu.
- Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others; perform final quality control checks.
- Ability to sell work and develop client relationships; strong training and mentoring skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly in oral and written form; ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills; proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays.
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.
- 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry.
- Coordinate, oversee, and manage projects of varying size and complexity.
- Assist with design scopes of work, fee calculations, proposal generation, and contract reviews.
- Create project schedules with milestones and deadlines; serve as point of contact for teams and clients.
- Prepare monthly billings and provide financial information; update projections and completion percentages monthly.
- Ensure designs follow owner and IMEG standards and code requirements; ensure milestone deliverables, quality control, and construction support are timely.
