Dance Instructor at Episcopal School of Jacksonville, St. Mark’s Campus. Full-time position teaching PreK-5th grade students in weekly dance classes, teaching PE/movement classes to ELP2 through Kindergarten students, working with after-school extracurricular dance programs on the St. Marks Campus and periodically assisting with middle and upper school dancers on the main Munnerlyn Campus after school.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Teach weekly dance classes to PreK-5th-grade students on the St. Mark’s Campus
- Work closely with the Physical Education program to ensure dance is experienced both as an art form and as a class that encourages movement, spatial awareness, and physical conditioning, and teach PE/Movement classes to ELP2 through Kindergarten students
- Lead after-school extracurricular dance programs across two campuses (St. Marks and Munnerlyn)
- Choreograph and teach dance to diverse age groups (PreK-12)
- Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents
- Help to maintain a safe and positive learning environment
- Participate in school committees and contribute to the life of the school
- At all times, demonstrate professional responsibility in all tasks assigned; display sound judgment in dress and general behavior
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in the field of Dance
- Teaching experience required
- Employee must pass a background check, fingerprinting, , and complete the Safeguarding God’s Children class.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Highly organized to manage class schedules and extracurricular programming across two campuses
- Flexible and creative in working with diverse age groups (PreK-12)
- Physical ability to demonstrate choreography and movement to students
- Experience working with elementary-aged children
- Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills; must be a self-starter and be well-organized; must be a team player
- Be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Employee should dress professionally, yet appropriately for working with children
- Employee should be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Employee should be able to squat to a child’s height and maintain eye contact
- Submission of video graphed choreography
