Overview

This is a full‑time, in‑person service opportunity in Jacksonville, FL. READ USA’s mission is to open pathways for children in under‑resourced communities with book choice and ownership, peer‑to‑peer tutoring, and professional literacy instruction development for educators—all to positively impact grade‑level reading proficiency, workforce development, building a teacher pipeline, and ending the cycle of generational poverty. The proposed VISTA project aligns with the Education and Economic Opportunity focus areas and seeks to expand capacity building and sustainability efforts by generating resources and systems that will allow us to expand into other communities.

It is expected to benefit 52,000 individuals from under‑resourced communities.

VISTA will develop a comprehensive logistics and scaling process to enable READ USA to expand its service opportunities and geographic footprint, serving more students and hiring and training more teachers and tutors.
