Y Reads Assistant role at YMCA of Florida's First Coast
Position SummaryImplements quality programs, to foster individual growth and development of children in our YMCA of Florida's First Coast YReads program.
Locations:
Beauclerc – 4555 Craven Rd W, Jacksonville, FL 32257;
Brookview – 10450 Theresa Dr, Jacksonville, FL 32246.
Salary: $40,000.00–$50,000.00.
- Tutors struggling readers in K-3.
- Maintains a good relationship with parents through regular communication and active participation in planned activities.
- Remains constantly aware of the growing needs of each child, offering new and enriching experiences as each child reaches each level of development.
- Provides appropriate academic assistance to students.
- Executes daily lesson plans for each tutoring session.
- Assists the Program Director with student progress by use of pre-tests, mid-year tests and post-tests as well as FAIR assessments.

- High School degree is required.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
- Ability to implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Practices caring, respect, faith, honesty, and responsibility.
- Flexibility, resourcefulness and high energy.
- Must pass a Level 2 Background Screening. Level 2 is a fingerprint check of state and federal criminal history information conducted through the Florida Department of law Enforcement (FDLE) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities.
