Teacher - ESE - Autism
Duval County Public Schools is looking for a dedicated educator to serve students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Salary and BenefitsStarting salary: $48,700. Additional Referendum money available for the next four years starting at $7,730 for the 25-26 school year; teachers hired during the school year will receive a prorated supplement based on the date of hire.
Job SummaryGuides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media, consistent with physical limitations and the needs of individual students or groups. Strives to implement the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals.
Minimum Qualifications- Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. - Experience:
None required. Salary is based on verified years of teaching experience. - Certifications & Licenses:
Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in an appropriate subject area.
- ESE Certified Behavior Analyst
- Three (3) years successful teaching or work experience with students on the autism spectrum or with behaviorally complex needs.
- Board certification as a Behavior Analyst AND Florida Department of Education teaching certification in at least one area of Exceptional Student Education, Guidance and Counseling, or School Psychology. Autism Spectrum Disorder Endorsement preferred.
- ESE Intervention Representative
- Five (5) years successful classroom teaching experience in exceptional student education or a combination of exceptional/regular education teaching experience.
- Background in behavior management techniques strongly recommended.
- Florida Department of Education certification in at least one area of Exceptional Student Education, Administration/Supervision, or Educational Leadership.
- ESE Lead
- Three (3) years experience working with students with disabilities.
- Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in an appropriate subject area.
- ESE Site Coach
- Three (3) years experience working with students with Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities/Autism.
- Certification in at least one area of exceptional student education (for Autism positions, Autism certification or endorsement required) and one area of a core content area or K-6 Certification.
- Knowledge of subject content
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong time management skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software skills
- Ability to plan and implement a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students
- Ability to devote additional hours beyond the workday for grading papers, preparation of lesson plans, etc.
- Ability to manage students
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
