Role Mission:
Dean of Culture works directly with scholars to ensure that they graduate from IDEA Public Schools and go to and through college by providing student centered supports aimed at creating a positive and supportive school culture conducive to learning. The Dean of Culture, in collaboration with school leadership, is responsible for creating and facilitating key systems that drive the culture of the school.
With the school leadership team, the Dean of Culture will ensure that each student is appropriately supported so that they can make progress towards their individual goals. The Dean of Culture will support the principals in three key areas:
Student Culture, Staff Culture, and Community Culture.
Compensation:
Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $60,000 and $72,000, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on team performance and goal attainment.

What You Bring -- Competencies Qualifications- Education:
Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree preferred - Experience:
2+ years of teaching experience required; school leadership experience strongly preferred - Expertise in the following highly preferred:
- Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports
- Crisis Prevention/Management
- Build and support a student culture based on Positive Behavioral Intervention & Supports (PBIS)
- Lead Professional Development for all staff around best practices in PBIS
- Select/create and monitor systems to track student behaviors, interventions, and supports
- Identify trends and create plans to improve each student's experience and perception of school support and ability to function successfully in both the school and classroom setting
- Approach and teach student behavior as a set of lagging, learned and mastered skills
- Create safe spaces within the schools for students to deescalate and build back trust with their school community
- Develop individualized plans for students to increase their agency and ownership of their behavior
- Manage student incentive system as part of the school-wide behavior system
- Plan, implement, and maintain monthly culture focus for school-wide initiatives (Anti-Bullying, etc.)
- Monitor student grades, identify trends and implement proactive interventions to keep students on track to graduate
- Building a staff culture dedicated to excellence
- Build and support a staff culture of excellence and accountability
- Create, maintain, and monitor school-wide behavior systems, ensuring all staff are faithfully implementing school-wide behavior systems
- Support Grade Level Administrations (other Leadership Team Members) and Grade Team Teacher Leaders in decision‑making and implementation of positive behavioral interventions and systems
- Attend Grade‑Level Meetings and provide feedback to Grade Team Teacher Leaders on both meeting structure and meeting impact.
