Immediate Lead Middle School Teacher – KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools

Salary:
Starting salary for first‑year lead teacher is $50,000, with opportunities for instructional stipends and other benefits.
KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks middle school teachers for our fifth through eighth grade classrooms in the 2025-26 school year. Teachers are assigned one grade level and are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their Principal.
OurCurrent Model
There are four “home room” teachers on each grade level who each teach a core subject. Class size is typically about 26 students per class. Subjects on each grade level include English Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, and Science. Please note within the application what grade levels and/or subject area you prefer. Relevant certification should also be indicated. Fifth grade is considered part of our middle school model.

- Bachelor’s Degree
- Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification in one of the following areas:
- Elementary Education K‑6 for positions in grades 5th or 6th
- Math, Science, English, or Social Studies 5‑9 for a specific subject area in grades 5,6,7, or 8
- Secondary Math, English, or Social Studies 6‑12 for a specific subject area in grades 6,7, or 8
- Specific science area 6‑12 for science positions in grades 6,7, or 8
- At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track‑record of high achievement in the classroom

- Passing a background check, as required by law
Preferred Qualifications
- Florida Reading Endorsement (or reading competency coursework in progress) if teaching English Language Arts
- ESOL Endorsement (or competency coursework in progress)
- Two or more years of teaching experience with a proven track‑record of high achievement in the classroom in a relevant grade level

Additional InformationIn the 2025‑26 school year, the KIPP Jacksonville region will comprise four schools: KIPP Impact Academy (Kindergarten–8th grade), KIPP VOICE Academy (Kindergarten–8th grade), KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy (Kindergarten–8th grade), and KIPP Bold City High School (9th–12th grade). For the current school year, teachers work Monday through Friday with occasional meetings or special school events. School‑specific hours are listed below.
Hours for teachers and students may vary slightly by school. Each Wednesday is a student early release day for professional development and content meetings.
