Role Overview

The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic in Florida is seeking a Surgical Pathologist, preferred with fellowship training in bone and soft tissue pathology, to work in a large academic group practice setting. The ideal candidate will have strong diagnostic skills and extensive experience in general surgical pathology and bone/soft tissue pathology. Recent graduates are also encouraged to apply.

Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, is a unique practice environment, focused on the needs of the patient and dedicated to collegiality and teamwork. Our clinical pathology laboratory offers a robust and rapidly growing test menu. Mayo Clinic Jacksonville processes approximately 45,000 surgical pathology specimens, 21,500 cytopathology specimens, and has a growing consult service. Mayo Clinic Florida has a robust sarcoma program that evaluates 350 new sarcoma patients a year and enrolls 60 new patients a year to therapeutic sarcoma clinical studies.

The selected candidate will join a group of 38 pathology consultants. All Surgical and Clinical pathologists have subspecialty expertise and participate in scholarly activities through research and education. The practice offers a stimulating environment for professional growth and career development.

Responsibilities

The new faculty member will work closely with our large multi-disciplinary team of physicians from surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, orthopedic oncology, head and neck surgery, gynecologic oncology, musculoskeletal and body radiology, and interventional radiology to deliver coordinated care to our sarcoma patients and participate in research projects. The new faculty member will lead presentations and discussion of pathology review for cases at our weekly sarcoma tumor board, which is run from our site and video-conferenced between multiple national sarcoma centers.

The elected candidate will participate in the education of trainees, medical students, residents, and fellows. The position includes an academic appointment with the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine.
