Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon – Focused Neuromuscular Disorders -Nemours Children's Health, J

Key Responsibilities

• Providing comprehensive orthopedic evaluation and surgical management of children with neuromuscular disorders, including cerebral palsy and spina bifida
• Performing complex neuromuscular surgical procedures, including single‑event multilevel surgery (SEMLS), neuromuscular hip reconstruction, and lower extremity deformity correction. Experience or interest in neuromuscular spine surgery is welcomed but not required.
• Leading and participating in multidisciplinary cerebral palsy and spasticity clinics in collaboration with PM&R, neurology, and neurosurgery.
• Collaborating closely with physical therapy, occupational therapy, orthotics and prosthetics, and care coordination teams.
• Interpreting gait analysis and functional assessment data to guide individualized treatment planning and surgical decision‑making.
• Contributing to education, quality improvement initiatives, and outcomes‑based care.
• Participating in educational initiatives for pediatric orthopedic fellows, residents, and medical students while strengthening academic affiliations with the University of Florida and Mayo Clinic.

• A robust, collaborative pediatric orthopedic practice within a nationally recognized children’s health system.
• Opportunity to participate in and help lead a comprehensive Neuromuscular and Spasticity Program.
• Strong multidisciplinary infrastructure including pediatric PM&R, neurology, neurosurgery, and rehabilitation medicine.
• Established collaboration with the Center for Gait Analysis and Brooks Rehabilitation supporting gait‑informed care and functional outcome assessment.
• Ability to contribute to program development, clinical pathways, and long‑term strategic growth.
• Support for clinical research and quality improvement initiatives.
• Academic partnerships with Mayo Clinic and the University of Florida.

• Completion of an ACGME‑accredited orthopedic surgery residency.
• Completion of a pediatric orthopedic fellowship training.
• Board certified or board eligible in orthopedic surgery.
• Eligible for an unrestricted Florida medical license and DEA registration.
• Demonstrated experience or focused interest in neuromuscular orthopedics, including cerebral palsy and spina bifida.
• Commitment to family‑centered, collaborative pediatric orthopedic care.
