Overview

Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care in the Department of Surgery and Heart and Vascular Center with focus on advanced/complex adult cardiac and thoracic surgery.
  • Perform procedures including coronary artery bypass, valve surgery (open and minimally invasive), arrhythmia surgery, thoracic aortic surgery, thoracoscopic and robotic lung resection, and mediastinal surgery.
  • Engage in teaching and supervising residents, fellows, and staff; participate in clinical research as outlined by the academic appointment.
  • Contribute to on-call coverage as part of the clinical schedule.
  • Collaborate with UF Health cardiology, vascular surgery, and other specialties to advance patient care and program development.
Qualifications
  • Required MD/DO or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligibility in cardiothoracic surgery.
  • Eligible for or active Florida license.
  • Ability to obtain unrestricted licensure in Florida.
Preferred
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in cardiothoracic surgical procedures.
  • Experience in cardiothoracic procedures including: CABG, TEVAR/aortic surgery, complex valvular surgery (including minimally invasive techniques), Maze procedure for atrial fibrillation, TAVR, robotic surgery, minimally invasive approaches, ECMO/LVAD placement.
  • Academic experience including education, scholarly productivity and program development.
  • A minimum of 5 years post-residency/fellowship experience.
Appointment and Duties

The Department of Surgery and the Heart and Vascular Center at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville (UF COM-J) hire at the tenure or non-tenure accruing level of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. The successful candidate will be academically reportable to the Chair of the Department of Surgery and operationally to the CT Surgery Director of the Heart and Vascular Center at UF COM-J.

This is a full-time 1.0 FTE clinical faculty position with expected teaching duties and clinical research commensurate with an academic appointment. The program covers the full spectrum of adult cardiothoracic surgery including TAVR, robotic thoracic surgery, TEVAR, minimally invasive aortic and mitral valve surgery, with opportunities for collaboration across UF College of Medicine campuses. Candidate will participate in on-call schedule and must be eligible for unrestricted licensure in Florida.

Expected Salary

Salary and academic appointment will be commensurate with training and level of experience.
