North Florida/ South Georgia VA Healthcare System is seeking an experienced Primary Care Physician for the Jacksonville Outpatient Clinic on North Jefferson Street in Jacksonville, Florida. To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed VA physicians who meet the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.

• United States Citizenship:
  Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
• Education:
  
  Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine
• The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed
• License and Registration:
  Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
• Residency Training:
  Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification (Internal Medicine and Family Medicine)
• Residency approvals: (1) ACGME; (2) American Osteopathic Association (AOA); or (3) other residencies (non-US residency followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States) as deemed appropriate by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee
• Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency programs who would otherwise meet the basic requirements may be appointed as “Physician Resident Providers” (PRPs)
• PRPs must be fully licensed physicians and may be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis
• PRPs are not independent practitioners and are not privileged; their scope of practice is supervised
• Additionally, surgery residents in gap years may also be appointed as PRPs
• English Language Proficiency:
  Must be proficient in spoken and written English
• Preferred Experience:
  
  Board Certification by the American Board in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine

• Physical Requirements:
  
  Must pass a pre-employment physical examination as required by VA Handbook 5019
• This examination is administered by VA Occupational Health
• Light to moderate lifting (15 - 44 lbs), light carrying (up to 15 lbs and under), reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, both hands required
• Walking/standing up to 2 hours each; kneeling up to 1 hour
• Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination; near/far vision; color vision; depth perception; hearing; emotional and mental stability
• Working closely with others and working independently

• The Primary Care Physician will perform the full range of duties, including: using telehealth (video) and telephone visits when appropriate
• Conduct physical exams, order laboratory, radiology, and diagnostic tests
• Practice in accordance with professional standards of care, core values, and a commitment to excellence
• Utilize electronic medical records in accordance with NF/S VS policy and regulatory requirements
• Participate in staff meetings, educational activities, administrative duties, and other tasks as assigned
