CEI Senior Inspector - Jacksonville, FL

Halff CEI is seeking a Senior Inspector for our Jacksonville, FL office to act as our company representative on construction sites, ensuring that workmanship and materials comply with specifications. The successful candidate will be assigned responsibility for field representation on major projects with complex features and must be capable of being assigned to isolated locations and situations where only broad supervision is available.

This position supervises lower-graded personnel and coordinates certain phases of field representation on large complex projects.

What you will do
  • Conduct on-site inspections of construction activities to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and codes
  • Monitor the quality of construction materials, workmanship, and techniques used during the construction process
  • Document and report any non-compliant activities, deviations, or deficiencies to project managers
  • Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and subcontractors to assist in the resolution of potential issues
  • Monitor field tests and measurements on materials such as concrete, asphalt, soils, and structural components
  • Verify that construction schedules and milestones are being met and report any delays or potential impacts
  • Review and interpret construction plans, drawings, and technical documents to ensure conformance by the contractor
  • Attend project meetings and communicate inspection findings and progress updates to relevant parties
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulations on construction sites
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, including photographs and relevant documentation, for project records
  • Train and mentor junior inspectors to enhance their knowledge and proficiency in construction inspection practices
What you will need
  • In depth understanding of construction practices, materials, methods, and relevant codes and regulations
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans, drawings, and technical documents
  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance and quality control processes within the construction industry
  • Familiarity with various construction testing and measurement tools and equipment
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with project teams and stakeholders
  • Attention to detail and the ability to identify and report discrepancies or deviations
  • Problem-solving skills to address construction-related challenges and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Time management skills to prioritize and manage multiple inspection tasks and deadlines
  • Comfortable working outdoors and in various weather conditions
  • Basic computer skills for creating and maintaining inspection reports and documentation
Education, Experience and Licensure (Minimum qualifications)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience as an Inspector or similar role in construction inspection is preferred
  • Knowledge of local construction codes, regulations, and standards
  • Valid driver's license
  • Physical ability to perform on-site inspections, including climbing, walking, and lifting as required
  • Strong ethical standards and commitment to maintaining professional integrity
Physical Requirements (Minimum qualifications)
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Must be able to travel to various project sites
  • Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas
