Entry-Level Field Technician - Construction Materials Testing – Jacksonville, Florida

Our broad service offering includes construction materials testing, geotechnical services, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing.
The Field Technician is responsible for performing a variety of testing, project-specific observations and site assessment duties under general supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures. This position may require occasional work in local chemical plants. Responsibilities include operating testing equipment, conducting testing (e.g., soil, concrete or other), and providing assessment of data through reporting; utilizing drawings, specifications, and diagrams; performing tasks to make detailed observations of site activities and providing limited interpretation of results;
maintaining detailed documentation and data from test results; and reporting to clients on jobsites to perform concrete/soil testing and inspection, pick up concrete/soil samples, and perform laboratory testing on concrete/soil samples.
Sample responsibilities include:
- Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (example: soil, concrete or other) and provide assessment of data through reporting
- Utilize drawings, specifications, and diagrams
- Use specific methods and perform tasks to make detailed observations of site activities and give limited interpretation of results
- Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results
- Report to clients on jobsites to perform concrete/soil testing and inspection, pick-up samples, and perform laboratory testing on concrete/soil samples
- Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record
- Must be able to pass a plant background and hair follicle drug test
- Must be able to work off shift and overtime as needed
- Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently; occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make discriminations in sound
- Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures
- Ability to climb occasionally and work at various heights
- Ability to work overnight hours and off shift
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Construction Material Testing (CMT) experience
- Industry relevant certifications preferred - ACI, ICC, FDOT
