Assistant Superintendent – Multifamily Construction

Position Type:
Full-Time, W2 (permanent placement/direct hire, NO Temp/Contract)

Location:
  • Office in Jacksonville, FL (near Jax Beach area).
  • Projects throughout North Florida and Southeast US.
  • Travel required.
  • Subsistence/per diem provided.

Role Overview :

As an Assistant Superintendent on our client's team, you will partner with the lead superintendent and project management team to help oversee day-to-day field operations, drive schedule performance, coordinate subcontractors, enforce safety, and ensure the highest standards of craftsmanship are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities Field Leadership & Daily Operations
  • Assist with the direction and all on-site construction activities for multifamily/student housing projects.
Schedule & Production
  • Assist with the creation and management of daily, weekly, and projection/look-ahead schedules.
  • Coordinate subcontractor sequencing and manpower to maintain production goals.
  • Identify schedule risks early and collaborate with PMs to resolve issues before they become delays.
Quality Control
  • Enforce company quality standards across all scopes of work.
  • Review plans, specifications, and submittals to ensure on-site compliance.
  • Perform daily QA/QC inspections, track deficiencies, and lead punch-list completion.
Safety & Compliance
  • Promote a safety-first culture aligned with company values and policies.
  • Assist with site safety meetings and enforcement of OSHA, company, and project safety standards.
  • Document incidents, near misses, and maintain a clean, well-organized job site.
Subcontractor & Vendor Coordination
  • Oversee subcontractor performance and ensure adherence to scope, schedule, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Verify work completion for progress payments and assist in resolving field conflicts.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain daily logs, progress photos, inspections, and site reports.
  • Assist with RFI responses, field sketches, and plan clarifications.
  • Track deliveries, equipment, manpower, and site logistics.
Project Closeout
  • Assist with the turnover process including punch lists, inspections, commissioning, and final documentation.
  • Ensure the project is completed in alignment with company's high standards and client expectations.
  • Lead daily jobsite meetings and maintain clear, proactive communication with subcontractors, field staff, and the project management team.
  • Maintain a visible leadership presence to ensure work is progressing according to plan and project goals.
Required Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience supervising commercial, residential, and/or multifamily construction projects.
  • Knowledge of scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and construction means & methods.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Proficiency with construction technology (Procore, Plan Grid, MS Office, scheduling software).
  • Ability to travel regionally as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to work in varying jobsite conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with key project types: multifamily, student housing, senior living (wood-frame, garden-style, podium, or wrap-style).
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience managing subcontractor teams and multiple trades simultaneously.
  • Background with large-scale, multi-building developments or $10M–$100M+ projects.
  • Understanding of Lean practices, BIM field integration, or advanced scheduling tools.
