Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with at least 2 years of experience in the construction industry to support daily accounting operations. This role requires hands-on experience with construction accounting practices, including job costing, progress billing, and cost tracking. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger entries and reconciliations
  • Maintain and reconcile job cost reports for active construction projects
  • Track project costs, including labor, materials, subcontractors, and overhead
  • Support progress billing (AIA billing), including schedules of values and lien waivers
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable, including subcontractor payments
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
  • Prepare and review monthly financial reports
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close
  • Support payroll accounting, including certified payroll where applicable
  • Help ensure compliance with contract requirements, retainage, and reporting deadlines
  • Assist with sales tax, use tax, and other regulatory filings
  • Work with project managers to resolve cost discrepancies and billing issues
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience in the construction industry
  • Strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, and progress billing
  • Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 100 Contractor, Viewpoint, Procore, Quick Books Construction, or similar)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, reconciliations, basic analysis)
  • Solid understanding of GAAP principles
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Pay Range
  • $28 to 33 based on expeiernce
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Experience with AIA billing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion accounting
  • Familiarity with union payroll and certified payroll reporting
  • Experience working with subcontractor compliance and lien releases
