Position: Staff Accountant (Hybrid)

Overview

This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office.

The position is responsible for preparing, analyzing, and reviewing financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The position supports month-end close, reconciliations, reporting, audits and special initiatives while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and internal policies. This role also provides accounting and system support to improve processes and data accuracy.

Responsibilities
  • Accounting – Analyzes data for the evaluation of financial statements and accounts. Aids in the research and resolution of accounting issues, questions, and standards. Assists in identification and resolution of exceptions. Addresses errors, discrepancies, and variances encountered in different applications. Prepares journal entries to align the general ledger with the loan and lease systems. Performs month-end close activities and may provide technical accounting support to financial systems that includes upgrades, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Reconcilement – Reconciles accounting data, general ledger entries, and supporting schedules.
  • Systems Support – Assists with system changes and testing including upgrades, troubleshooting, and new system searches. Assists others to ensure that the financial platforms are functioning properly to support month-end close, external, and internal reporting requirements.
  • Reporting – Prepares reports that project the Bank's financial position. Identifies and explains variances on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Develops additional reporting requirements as needed.
  • Accounting Knowledge – Demonstrates a deep understanding of accounting principles, regulations, and systems. Participates in departmental efforts related to audits and research, and acts as an accounting resource to special projects.
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience in Accounting, Audit, or Financial Analysis OR High School Diploma or GED and 6 years of experience in Accounting, Audit, or Financial Analysis

Preferred Education:

Advanced Degree

Preferred Area of Study:
Accounting or Finance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Strong Microsoft Office Skills (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Peoplesoft, Blackline, or Loan IQ is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and communication skills
