Our Team as a Corporate Accounting Contractor!

We are seeking an experienced Corporate Accounting professional to join The Energy Authority (TEA) on a contract basis
. This role will support TEA’s accounting and finance functions by providing hands‑on accounting expertise, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and assisting with key corporate accounting activities.

This position is ideal for a detail‑oriented accounting professional who enjoys collaborating cross‑functionally, thrives in a fast‑paced environment, and brings a practical, solutions‑oriented approach to corporate accounting support.

What You’ll Do
  • Support day‑to‑day corporate accounting operations
    , including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes
    , ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal controls.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, schedules, and supporting documentation in accordance with GAAP and organizational policies.
  • Support audit activities
    , including preparation of audit schedules, responding to auditor inquiries, and assisting with documentation requests.
  • Assist with financial analysis
    , variance analysis, and reporting to support management decision‑making.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Operations, and other internal stakeholders to ensure accurate financial data and alignment with business activities.
  • Assist with special projects, system implementations, and ad hoc accounting initiatives as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure proper documentation and retention of accounting information.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
    .
  • 3+ years of experience in corporate accounting, public accounting, or a combination of both
    .
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and corporate accounting principles.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial close processes
    .
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to producing high‑quality work.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degree of integrity, discretion, and professionalism when handling confidential information.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across teams and functions.
Preferred Knowledge & Skills
  • Experience supporting audits or working with external auditors.
  • Familiarity with ERP or accounting systems (experience with large or complex systems preferred).
  • Prior experience in the energy, utilities, or financial services industry is a plus.
  • CPA or CPA‑eligible status is a plus, but not required.
