The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a Full-Time Supervisory Lead Educator, GS-1701-09, Little Rock AFB, AR. The primary purpose is to serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to Child Development Center or School Age Care Program while ensuring the staff provides appropriate developmental care and instruction for children and youth in Child and Youth Programs (CYP).

The incumbent provides routine supervisory oversight, accountability, safety of children, instruction, mentoring, and coaching for CYP direct care professionals who work in Department of Defense (DoD) operated military Child Development Centers or School Age Care Programs. The incumbent supervises, coaches, and manages their work to ensure the ongoing staff development, execution of DoD standards of care and curriculum, and delivery of care are consistent with best practices of child/youth development programs.

The incumbent is responsible for providing guidance on scope of work and related duties, and assistance on the more complex, non-routine problems encountered by Child Development direct care professionals.

Annual Salary starts at $61,722.00 - $69,954.00 (Based on experience)

• Applicant must have completed a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 24 hours in early childhood education or child development.
• Knowledge of professional child and/ or youth development theory, methodology, and practices relating to physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development of children at a variety of ages, with a variety of needs, and in a variety of settings.
• Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
• Knowledge of Federal, State and local laws governing the detection, prevention, and reporting of child abuse and/or neglect.
• Skill in educating, counseling, and advising child care providers and parents; assessing training and children’s developmental needs; and evaluating qualifications and suitability of child care providers.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to adapt planned activities for children’s individual skills.
