Perimeter Behavioral in Jackson has an immediate opening for an Assessment & Referral Clinician (master's level and/or RN). The schedule is 7 PM–7 AM with rotating weekends off. We seek individuals committed to improving the lives of those with mental health illness.
As an Assessment & Referral Clinician, you will provide procedural information, legal forms, and hands‑on assistance to self‑represented litigants. You will conduct interviews, assist with the preparation, completion, and notarization of family court documents, perform case screenings, intake, and coordination for family law cases, and handle a high volume of public and professional inquiries. You will manage intake appointments, schedule case events, use a multi‑line telephone system, and work both in a team setting and independently under the supervision of the Director of Assessment & Referral.
Responsibilities- Serve as Intake Specialist, conducting intake interviews to assess appropriate level of care.
- Apply knowledge of developmental stages of children and special needs of the geriatric population.
- Utilize cultural, spiritual, and social groups in relation to healthcare delivery and acceptance.
- Receive incoming inquiry calls and interview walk‑ins to establish viability for services.
- Act as client liaison, providing accurate, complete interviews of client needs and making appropriate referrals (free initial consultation, direct admission, or outpatient referrals).
- Accurately assess psychosocial and emotional status using knowledge of developmental stages and special needs concerns.
- Serve as liaison to the business office and coordinate insurance verification.
- Coordinate communications and activities among clinical staff, nursing staff, business office, and marketing staff.
- Monitor direct/indirect referral sources and follow up with professional or agency referral sources regarding outpatient referrals.
- Document, collect, and organize data from inquiry calls to assist referral development.
- Use a logical approach to solve problems and manage situations positively.
- Demonstrate self‑direction and high motivation.
- Accept expected and unexpected duties willingly.
- Minimum of MS in a Behavioral Health field or Tennessee RN license.
- Experience in Behavioral Health assessment and/or treatment.
- Preferred: at least one year of previous experience on an inpatient Behavioral Health Unit.
- Experience with computers and statistics preferred.
- Knowledge of legal and ethical patient rights issues.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
- Knowledge of community/regional mental health resources.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
- Knowledge of computers, preferably PC Windows‑based environment.
- Knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of the hospital.
- Knowledge of literature and new developments in the behavioral health field.
- Knowledge of insurance information and verification systems, including PPOs and Managed Care Programs.
- Comprehensive knowledge of behavioral health theory and practice, including basic knowledge related to physical, psychological, social, cultural, safety, and/or educational needs.
- Knowledge of developmental stages of children and ability to interpret age‑specific needs.
