Immediate opening for an A & R Clinician (master's level and/or RN) at Perimeter Behavioral of Jackson. The schedule is 7p‑7a with rotating weekends off. We are seeking individuals committed to improving the lives of those with mental health illness.
About the Role
The Assessment & Referral Clinician is responsible for providing procedural information, legal forms and hands‑on assistance to self‑represented litigants. This position requires conducting interviews, assisting with the preparation, completion, and notarization of family court documents, performing case screenings, intake, and coordination for family law cases, handling a high volume of public and professional inquiries, managing intake appointments, scheduling case events and using a multi‑line telephone system.
Work is performed in a team setting and individually, under the supervision of the Director of Assessment & Referral.
- Serve as Intake Specialist for the Behavioral Health Services; conduct intake interviews to establish and assess appropriate level of care.
- Have knowledge and skills related to developmental stages of children and special needs of geriatric population.
- Utilize cultural, spiritual, and social group relationships to promote healthcare acceptance.
- Receive incoming inquiry calls and interview “walk‑ins” to establish viability for services.
- Act as client liaison, providing accurate, complete interviews of client needs and making appropriate referrals.
- Accurately assess psychosocial and emotional status using developmental stage knowledge.
- Serve as liaison to business office; coordinate insurance verification.
- Coordinate communications and activities between clinical staff, nursing staff, business office, and marketing staff.
- Monitor referral sources and follow up with professional or agency referral sources for outpatient referrals.
- Document, collect, and organize data from inquiry calls to aid referral development.
- Apply a logical approach to problem and situation management.
- Demonstrate ability to be self‑directed and highly motivated.
- Accept expected and unexpected duties willingly.
- Minimum of an MS in a Behavioral Health field or Tennessee RN license.
- Experience in Behavioral Health assessment and/or treatment.
- At least one year of prior experience on an inpatient Behavioral Health Unit preferred.
- Experience with computers and statistics preferred.
- Knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to patient rights.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
- Knowledge of community/regional mental health resources.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
- Computer proficiency, preferably PC, Windows‑based.
- Knowledge of hospital philosophy and objectives.
- Knowledge of literature and developments in the behavioral health field.
- Knowledge of insurance verification systems, including PPOs and Managed Care Programs.
- Knowledge of behavioral health theory and practice, including related physical, psychological, social, cultural, safety, and educational needs.
- Ability to interpret developmental stage information to identify patient needs.
