Join Our Team as a Locum Emergency Medicine Physician in Jackson, OH Make a Difference When It Matters Most!

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Emergency Medicine Physician to provide vital coverage during nights and weekends at multiple facilities, including Holzer Meigs, Gallipolis, and Jackson EDs. This position requires a minimum commitment of 5 shifts per month, with a preference for 8-10 shifts to ensure optimal coverage. Shifts are 12 hours each, scheduled during nights and weekends, with start times at either 8:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. The duration of each shift offers a balanced work-life flow in a supportive, collaborative setting.

Required Skills:

• Active Ohio medical license and DEA certification
• Board certification or eligibility in Emergency Medicine
• Proven clinical expertise in emergency medicine procedures and protocols
• Strong diagnostic and decision-making skills
• Ability to oversee Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) effectively
• Experience with EMR systems, specifically AllScripts and Paragon
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to changing circumstances

Nice to Have Skills:

• Previous experience in a similar acute care environment
• Familiarity with trauma-level facilities or complex case management
• Additional certifications such as ATLS, ACLS, PALS

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
• Minimum of 2 years of emergency medicine practice, preferably in hospital-based emergency departments
• Prior experience overseeing APPs and managing admissions

Other Requirements:

• Availability to start as soon as credentialed, with a typical turnaround of 45-60 days
• Must book all travel through OVP; no overtime
• Monthly minimum shift commitment of five, ideally 8-10 shifts per month
• Will be responsible for order writing for admissions and managing patient transfers, with no trauma designation at these sites
• Annual ED volume of approximately 18,527 patients across three sites
