Join us as a Salaried On Call Registered Nurse at Mercy, where you'll play a vital role in responding to both emergent and scheduled surgeries outside regular hours. Your expertise will span multiple surgical specialties, ensuring high-quality patient care while adhering to professional nursing standards and AORN guidelines.

Role: Registered Nurse-On Call (EXEMPT)

Location: Mercy Hospital Southeast, Cape Girardeau, MO

Department: Operating Room Complex

Status: Full-Time Salary Exempt*

* Unique Scheduling Opportunity:

In this role, you will provide call coverage for 7 consecutive days (Monday-Sunday), performing on-call duties and end-of-shift relief for cases extending beyond normal operating hours. After this, enjoy 7 days off call, during which you will be scheduled for three 8-hour mid-shifts (24 hours total).

*** 30-minute response time is required. Staying in-house is not required.***

As a vital member of our team, you will:

• Provide on-call coverage for various surgical specialties, including General Surgery, Orthopedic, Urology, Neurosurgery, and GYN surgery.
• Ensure timely responses to emergent and scheduled surgical cases.
• Adhere to AORN guidelines and Mercy policies to deliver exceptional patient care.

• Experience: 2-3 years of OR nursing experience is required.
• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Licensure: Current Missouri RN license or compact licensure.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; AORN Certification preferred.
• Availability: Must be readily available outside of business hours during call shifts.
• Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds regularly.
  • Prolonged standing and walking each shift.
  • Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat.
