Description
The Department of Facilities and Construction Management at Jackson State University is seeking a General Service Worker I to join their team.

A General Service Worker I will perform a variety of tasks related to the movement, handling, storage and delivery of goods to and from the University. This includes a broad range of responsibilities focused on the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the University's inbound and outbound operations.
Examples of Duties

• A High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum required licenses and/or valid Mississippi Drives License.
• Ability to bend, stand, stoop, crawl or smell and access small areas as needed.
• Ability to lift 3 minimum of fifty (50) lbs.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Serve as backup for moving and transportation support services.

Typical Qualifications

• Load and unload large bulky items on and off delivery trucks.
• Ensure that time-sensitive packages arc logged and delivered.
• Check vehicle for operating performance and complete vehicle reports daily.
• Organize packages to coordinate with delivery locations ensuring that all deliveries have proper attachments and notations.
• Identify and lag equipment and furniture according to State guidelines.
• Deliver packages and capital/bulk items to various on-campus and off-campus sites for the University.
