The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS) has a position available within our Background Unit. MDCPS is committed to protecting and nurturing Mississippi’s at-risk children and families. MDCPS offers a variety of positions statewide, including social work roles providing case management and working with potential foster families, as well as supervisory, administrative, policy development, human resources, information technology, program management, training, and budgeting/finance roles.

This position is with the MS Child Protection Service Criminal Background Unit. The Fingerprinting Specialist is responsible for fingerprinting all resource homes, relative resource homes, adoptive, and contracted providers in the assigned county. Duties include scheduling applicants for fingerprinting, requesting Local, State, and Federal background checks, and Child Abuse Central Registries checks. Other duties include traveling to conduct fingerprinting, utilizing Smartsheet for documentation, scheduling appointments, composing correspondence, collecting and compiling data for monthly reports, maintaining confidential information, tracking fingerprinting equipment, assisting Licensure and Human Resources staff with fingerprinting policy interpretations, and any other duties assigned.
