Painter IV

Description

The Department of Facilities and Construction Management at Jackson State University is seeking a skilled Painter IV to join their team. Their responsibilities will include surface preparation, paint application, color matching and using different techniques and tools, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Examples of Duties

* Apply paint to surfaces including canvas, walls, floors, doors, and cabinets.

* Serape, sandpaper, prime or seal surfaces prior to painting.

* Erect scaffolding, movable, and immovable staging and various rigging to gain access to difficult areas; move furniture and equipment as needed.

* Utilize spray guns for large jobs.

* Work on ladders to reach high ceilings or walls.

* Perform related duties as required.

Typical Qualifications

* Under direct supervision, the incumbent will be responsible for mixing, matching, and applying paint to various surfaces, completing touch-ups, and coordinating large palming projects.

* Minimum High School Diploma or GED.

* Must possess a valid Mississippi Driver's License.

* Over 10 years of progressive experience as a painter.

* Thorough knowledge of tools, application methods, and standard trade safety practices.

* Complete knowledge of the proper handling, mixing, and disposal of toxic and potentially hazardous materials.

* Must have the physical ability to climb ladders, scaffolding and work in sometimes physically strenuous places and positions.
