Supervisor – RN, Ambulatory

Supervises staff and operations of nursing care for assigned areas or units. Schedules and ensures appropriate staffing. Ensures supplies and equipment are available. Works with the Ambulatory Operation Director and clinical directors to resolve issues pertaining to the assigned area. Educates and consults patients and families regarding their concerns. Performs job duties in accordance with UMMC's purpose.

• Registered Nurse (RN) license with 3+ years of experience.
• BSN preferred.
• Valid RN license, BLS certification.

• Knowledge of nursing procedures.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, physicians, and registered nurses.
• Knowledge and understanding of computer systems, tools, and programs.
• Supervisory skills.
• Current competencies in nursing clinical practice.

• Supervises and organizes the clinical staff schedule for the assigned areas or units in accordance with approved productivity standards.
• Supervises daily operation of assigned areas or units, including but not limited to adherence to nursing standards of practice and administrative initiatives.
• Assists with training and mentoring personnel.
• Supervises clinical staff on assigned units.
• Ensures that personnel demonstrate quality standards of customer satisfaction and patient care.
• Demonstrates core standards of exceptional customer service.
• Tracks unit productivity and provides necessary reports to AOD.
• Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities to enhance the delivery of clinical care.
• Orders clinic supplies and medications as needed.
• Performs evaluations of clinical staff.

Requires no exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environments such as high noise levels, heat, or cold. No handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment. Occasional travel to offsite locations. Frequent bending, lifting up to 25 pounds, driving, kneeling, pushing/pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, walking. No climbing or crawling.
