. Weekender must work every Fri, Sat, Sun. Increase hourly pay for WOW position. Coordinates and delivers patient care using the health‑care team philosophy practice model. Coordinates patient teaching, discharge planning, and activities with ancillary departments. Maintains department and hospital standards. Reports to Nurse Manager or designee.

Responsibilities

    • Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities.

    • Handles confidential patient information in accordance with organizational and regulatory policies.
    • Demonstrates excellent customer service in line with the organization’s Vision, Mission, and Values.
    • Adheres to professional standards and federal, state, and local requirements, including TJC standards.
  • Essential Functions:
    • Provides the best possible nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing the nursing functions of patients on the unit.
    • Initiates and implements patient care plans.
    • Assigns nursing duties appropriate to the skill level of staff.
    • Maintains acceptable standards of patient care.
    • Identifies problems and guides personnel toward solutions.
    • Creates a working climate that promotes growth and job satisfaction.
    • Accurately and promptly implements physicians’ orders.
    • Administers medications and intravenous solutions skillfully and correctly.
    • Maintains accurate and complete documentation and reporting.
    • Ensures needed supplies and equipment are available.
    • Participates in planning changes and improvements.
    • Participates in hospital safety programs and infection‑control policy enforcement.
    • Stays calm and resourceful in emergencies.
    • Assists with orientation and in‑service training for personnel.
    • Engages in unit and department performance improvement plans.
    • Assists in reviewing and revising policies and procedures.
    • Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
    • Displays concern and initiative.
    • Observes and supports hospital policy.
    • Maintains promptness and efficiency with minimal absences.
    • Builds good rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, departments, and visitors.
  • Functional Demands:
    • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, or sitting while on duty.
    • Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
    • Transferring, repositioning patients.
    • Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeing, and crouching for patient care functions.
    • Requires good visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity.
    • Ability to perform effectively in a stressful, fast‑paced environment.
    • Must pass all required health and screening tests.
    • Exposure to hazardous chemicals, infectious agents, and variable ambient temperatures.
    • Direct contact with blood or other body fluids (universal precautions).
Qualifications
  • Experience:

    One year as an RN.
  • Education:

    Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
  • Licensure:
    Current Mississippi State RN license.
  • Skills:

    Recognize patient needs based on medical condition, age, and limitations; good oral and written communication; ability to function in stressful situations; current CPR certification. Willing to rotate shifts, days off, and work area. May be required to work overtime occasionally.
  • Physical Requirements:

    Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds; ability to transfer and reposition patients; physical stamina for prolonged duty; ability to maintain personal protective equipment.
