Registered Nurse II; RN-Cath Lab

Overview

The Cath Lab‑RN coordinates and provides care utilizing the critical thinking framework known as the nursing process for cardiac patients through interventional procedures. The nursing process forms the foundation of the nurse's decision making to help partner with patients/families to attain, maintain and restore health whenever possible. Blends caring, compassion, knowledge and integrity to provide safe quality care that preserves patient autonomy, dignity and rights.

• Administer care for heart disease and heart attack patients by obtaining visual diagnostics of the arteries of the heart.
• Identify blockages, assist the physician during procedures, and monitor the patient's status at other times.
• Administer interventional procedures such as cardiac catheterizations, angioplasties, pacemaker and/or defibrillator implantation, and related interventional or diagnostic procedures.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care.
• Administer medications as prescribed.
• Provide patient, family, and/or significant other health teaching/education.
• Participate in activities designed to improve health care delivery.
• Communicate and collaborate with others in providing patient care.
• Provide clinical leadership.
• Support lifelong learning.
• Complete assigned goals.

• Minimum required: 2 years experience in a Cath Lab unit.

• Minimum required:
  Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

• Minimum required: RN; BLS Certification within 14 days of hire.
