Job Overview: The Weekender must work every Fri, Sat, Sun. The position offers increased hourly pay for WOW shifts. The nurse coordinates and delivers patient care following the healthcare team philosophy, manages patient teaching and discharge planning, collaborates with ancillary departments, maintains departmental and hospital standards, and reports to the Nurse Manager or designee.
Responsibilities- Provide positive and professional representation of the organization.
- Promote a culture of safety for patients and staff through proper identification, reporting, documentation, and prevention.
- Maintain a clean and quiet environment to ensure a positive patient care experience.
- Stay current with standards of practice, trends, and developments related to the role.
- Follow infection-control policies, medication protocols, and controlled substance regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement activities.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, practices, protocols, and professional standards.
- Handle confidential patient information according to policies.
- Deliver excellent customer service aligned with the organization’s vision, mission, and values.
- Adhere to professional standards, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements including TJC standards.
- Plan, organize, and direct nursing care for patients on the unit.
- Implement and initiate patient care plans.
- Assign tasks appropriate to staff skill levels.
- Maintain standards of patient care and accurate documentation.
- Identify problems and guide staff solutions.
- Create a positive work environment fostering growth and satisfaction.
- Implement physicians' orders accurately and promptly.
- Administer medications and IV solutions correctly.
- Manage supplies and participate in safety and improvement initiatives.
- Support infection control policies and emergency responses.
- Participate in staff orientation, training, and performance improvement activities.
- Respect patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and good rapport with staff and visitors.
- Prolonged standing, walking, or sitting.
- Lifting up to 50 pounds, repositioning patients.
- Reaching, bending, and other physical activities.
- Visual, auditory, and manual dexterity requirements.
- Ability to work under stress in a fast-paced environment.
- Exposure to hazardous agents and infectious materials with proper precautions.
- Minimum one year of RN experience.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize patient needs, communicate effectively, and perform under stress.
- Current Mississippi State RN license.
