Job Summary

The Director of Women’s Services provides leadership, strategic planning, and operational oversight for the labor and delivery, postpartum, nurseries, and other women’s health services departments. The role ensures the delivery of high‑quality patient care by driving quality improvement initiatives, maintaining regulatory compliance, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. The Director focuses on enhancing patient safety, optimizing resource utilization, and promoting professional development for staff, all while aligning departmental goals with the organization’s mission and vision.

Functions
  • Oversee daily operations of women’s services departments, including staffing, resource allocation, safety, and quality.
  • Develop and implement departmental goals and objectives aligned with the organization’s strategic vision.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and best practices in women’s health care.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor staff members, fostering continuing education and professional development opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with providers, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other stakeholders to improve interdisciplinary communication and patient care.
  • Develop and enforce policies and procedures for women’s services, ensuring alignment with organizational standards.
  • Respond to and resolve patient care issues, complaints, and incidents, implementing corrective actions when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.
Leadership Responsibilities
  • Supervision and Staff Management
    • Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for departmental staff.
    • Schedule employees to ensure effective use of resources and consult with leadership on any potential staffing issues.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, set goals, and provide feedback to staff on their performance and development.
  • Strategic Planning and Financial Oversight
    • Collaborate with hospital leadership to set the strategic direction for the department, including budgeting, resource allocation, and long‑term planning.
    • Monitor expenditures, ensuring cost‑effective delivery of services.
    • Evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
    • Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures and protocols to optimize quality and overall efficiencies.
  • Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies and may oversee the accreditation process with relevant agencies.
    • Participate in audits, inspections, and accreditation processes as applicable.
    • Follow established quality control practices to ensure accuracy, consistency, and safety.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work closely with leadership teams to coordinate and improve service delivery.
    • Stay up-to-date with industry advancements, new technologies, and regulatory changes.
  • Staff Responsibilities
    • May work in a staff role when required, ensuring duties and responsibilities are fulfilled while meeting all competencies established for that job.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field required, or seven (7) plus years of direct experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in a closely related field with a Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Three to five years of previous leadership experience preferred.
