RN Clinical Unit Leader - Maternal Child Administration - Full Time - Days

The Clinical Unit Leader (CUL), under general supervision from the department manager and/or director, functions as shift supervisor and clinical liaison, providing leadership and continuity in patient care. The CUL acts as a supervisor, role model, mentor, coach, and resource to staff, ensuring unit standards are maintained and a team-oriented work environment is fostered. Responsibilities include staff hiring, orientation, performance evaluation, problem-solving, employee counseling, staffing, and staff management.

The CUL also serves as a contact for internal and external customers, promoting positive customer service and compliance with quality and accreditation standards.

Clinical Practice:
Rotate to off shifts as needed to provide clinical assessment, mentoring, coaching, and staff evaluation.

Management of Clinical Area:
Develop and implement unit goals, plan staffing according to patient needs and budget, and participate in daily operational planning and problem-solving.

QA and Research:
Participate in quality metrics, quality improvement activities, and promote evidence-based practice and clinical research among staff.

Minimum Education
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with an expectation to obtain a BSN within five years.
  • Minimum of one year experience in an acute care setting.
Required Licenses/Certifications
  • Current Michigan Nursing License
  • Valid BLS certification
  • ACLS certification within one year of hire

  • Problem-solving, effective communication, and interpersonal skills for leadership.
  • Strong nursing processes, critical thinking, and assessment skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the patient population served.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous leadership experience (Charge Nurse, Supervisor, etc.).
  • Professional certifications supporting nursing excellence.
