Position:
Food Inspector in the Food Protection Division of the Mississippi State Department of Health, located in Hinds County, MS.

Annual Salary: $26,185.60 - $39,317.67

• Conduct a minimum of four retail food inspections per day, averaged over the course of each month.
• Perform food safety public outreach, training, and education of retail food facility management and staff.
• Respond to disasters and provide food protection and sanitation consultations.

Candidate needs the ability to analyze a situation and build a possible solution to a process, procedure, or problem.

• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to analyze situations and develop solutions.

Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and 0-2 years of experience.

• Experience in the food service industry with knowledge of food safety regulations – required.
• Experience in food permits, invoicing, and Food Protection’s overall process – preferred.
