The MDAH seeks a museum educator to serve on the education and programming team at the Two Mississippi Museums. The educator will demonstrate a growing knowledge of Mississippi history and the exhibits there. They will lead interpretive experiences, assist in developing student and teacher learning materials, and design and implement educational programs for the public and K-12 students. They will also assist with interpretive training for contract staff and volunteer docents, provide backup for visitor services, help with cleaning and maintenance,êche represent the museum at community events, and carry out other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need to Be Successful

The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative team environment, show enthusiasm for learning new information, and demonstrate confidence in public speaking. They will be comfortable engaging diverse audiences and effectively convey Mississippi's history to visitors, including K-12 students. Must stand and/or walk for extended periods of time, typically one to two hours, while conducting museum tours.

Preferred Qualifications ною
  • Bachelor's degree (preferable in history, education, or communications) from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Two to four years of related experience (at least one year required).
  • Experience with museum education, training, or related fields.
