About the Agency

The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) seeks to create a world-class educational system that gives students the knowledge and skills to be successful in college and in the workforce, and to flourish as parents and citizens. This position is in the Bureau of Data and Compliance within the Office of Special Education (OSE). This position requires regular communication with LEA Special Education Directors and Administrators, the MDE OSE Data Team, and Stakeholders.

What you'll need to be Successful

Ability to provide support for projects within the Bureau of Data and Compliance, Office of Data and Reporting, to include, but not limited to, providing support to school districts regarding data and reporting, data reporting and analysis, report development, and related follow up activities.

Duties will require knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, State Board of Education Chapter 74, Rule 19, U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs Federal Data Collection and Reporting Requirements, and the Mississippi Student Information System (MSIS).Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and excellent oral and written communication skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications

Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of experience. Agency qualifications:
Must have experience in data and reporting in MSIS.
