About the Agency
The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) is the state's lead economic and community development agency. MDA recruits new companies to Mississippi, helps existing companies expand, and provides support to foster growth and new opportunities in a variety of areas, including energy, small and minority business, trade, film, retiree recruitment, and more. Additionally, MDA attracts millions of visitors to the state each year through Visit Mississippi, the tourism division of the agency.
MDA also supports pass-through funding and provides support for a variety of grant programs and non-profits, such as Innovate Mississippi and the Mississippi Main Street Association.
This position requires a dedicated individual with a keen eye for detail and a robust understanding of state and federal accounting practices.
Principal Responsibilities- Analyze and maintain Agency Funds and Fund balances
- Perform other tasks as assigned due to special projects or absence within the unit
- Supervision of subordinate personnel
- Delegation of duties to subordinate personnel
- Meet deadlines assigned by the supervisor
- Monthly checking account reconciliations
- Adjusting entries as needed
- Annual port invoicing & excess cash payments
- Invoicing for various contracts
- Assist with preparation of GAAP packet
- Fiscal year-end cash moves
- Process home revolving loan payments
- Creating new funds or deactivating funds
- Complete Audit Confirmations
- Postage and copier reallocation
- Special projects as assigned
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Proficient with Excel and preparation of spreadsheets.
- Ability to research and interpret legislation pertaining to new programs and treasury funds.
- Ability to work independently.
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 4-5 years of experience and/or appropriate certification.
