About the AgencyThe Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS) is committed to protecting and nurturing Mississippi's at-risk children and families. The position will be responsible for checking the Hotel Reservation email box throughout the day to secure hotel accommodations needed by staff. Complete the hotel request form to ensure the traveler gets hotel accommodation confirmation. Maintain a spreadsheet so that proof of confirmed hotel requests can be entered for supporting documentation for billing purposes. Request room blocks for conferences and training.
Receive invoices, pull supporting documentation, prepare Form 1408 paperwork for signatures, and verify that debts have not been reconciled before proceeding with paperwork to process an invoice. Provide feedback to vendors regarding payment details. Responsible for the after-hours phone line for one quarter out of the year. Process Direct Bill Applications. Answer calls. Assist with printing travel vouchers, date stamping, and verifying the travel vouchers.
Also responsible for assisting with other assignments as needed within the department.
Must be able to prioritize work to meet deadlines, be an effective team leader/player, have good communication skills, as well as understand the importance of confidentiality in the travel department. Also, be able to pay attention to details.
Preferred QualificationsTypically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 0-2 years of experience. Agency
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Business Administration, or directly related field; and experience: zero (0) to two (2) years of experience in auditing and/or accounting work.
