The Licensed Practical Nurse E9 provides a full range of nursing care through the application of policies, procedures, standards and protocols, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Provides total patient care for an assigned group of patients. Assures that their hygiene needs are met, assists with activities of daily living, assists with ambulation as needed. Assesses patients within the LPN scope of practice, training and competency.

Administers medications and treatments. Keeps the RN informed of patient condition changes and response to treatment. Works with maximum security prisoners 100% of on-duty time. This role is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

This position includes up to a $2000 signing bonus.

Education

Possession of a certificate from a practical nursing education program accepted for licensure by the Michigan Board of Nursing.

New hires to the MDOC along with previous MDOC employees that are returning after being away from the department for more than two years will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) either 40 hours or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on their level of offender contact and job classification. All new employees will complete additional online training to successfully complete their non-custody new employee training.
