Overview

The Inpatient Behavioral Health RN is responsible for delivering compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals experiencing acute mental health crises, psychiatric disorders, and/or substance use issues in an inpatient hospital setting. This role involves comprehensive assessment, therapeutic intervention, crisis management, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary treatment team to develop and implement individualized care plans.

Schedule
: 7pm-7:30am

Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial and ongoing psychiatric and medical assessments of patients.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient progress, behaviors, and responses to treatment.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
  • Provide emotional support, patient education, and de-escalation during crisis situations.
  • Lead or support therapeutic group activities and educational sessions.
  • Ensure a safe, structured, and supportive environment by enforcing unit rules and safety protocols.
  • Accurately document patient care, behaviors, and interventions in accordance with regulatory standards and facility policies.
  • Participate in treatment planning, discharge planning, and family education as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of trauma-informed care, behavioral health interventions, and evidence-based practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • BLS/CPR certification required; additional certifications (e.g., CPI, ACLS) preferred.
  • Previous experience in psychiatric, behavioral health, or related nursing field preferred.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment with a diverse patient population.

Type
: full-time contract employment 13-14 weeks with possibility to extend
